WhatsApp launched the “Picture in Picture (PiP) mode” on Wednesday to watch videos hosted on selected platforms for all Android test users running the Android operating system (OS version 4.4 and higher).

According to WABetaInfo, the fan site tracking WhatsApp, PiP is being launched for all Android test users, allowing users to play videos hosted on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Streamable platforms in WhatsApp.

This feature has been launched on the beta version of WhatsApp’s Android app. Therefore, for this feature to work on your device, you must first update WhatsApp  Android beta update, which will allow you to use the PiP mode.

According to WABetaInfo, PiP mode can help you browse chats while the video is playing. But if you switch to another chat, the PiP will disappear. The Android update is still in order to catch up with this iOS update. PiP mode has been around for a while on the iOS platform.

WhatsApp has not explicitly mentioned this feature, but you can try this feature by sending a video link to your contacts and checking if the PiP mode is working.
