OnePlus has released new public beta updates for the OnePlus 5 and 5T models. It is provided in test versions v7 and v9 respectively. Both updates are heavy and weigh more than 1.6GB. Therefore, it is recommended that users make room for the smooth installation of the software.
According to the change log, the new firmware is an incremental Android Oreo update and brings security patches, value-added features (such as double-clicking the lock screen), improved search history for the application drawer, and an optimized file manager.
As we mentioned earlier, double-clicking the lock screen feature is the most important to many people. That’s because many other smart phones already have this capability. In order to activate this feature, you need to install this update and go to settings.
When it comes to the phone launcher, you’ll also notice that the search history for the application drawer has been improved. The file manager has also been improved, and the scanning logic of large files has been optimized.
This is an OTA update and you should receive installation notifications. You can also choose to install this update manually, which you can find on the official OnePlus download page. Before installing the update, be sure to back up all data in case something goes wrong.
